While many of you have already tasted IHOP’s fluffy pancakes and creamy milk shakes, it was another first for me and my bebe-booms. IHOP is also a restaurant under the Global Restaurant Concepts group and in BGC, is located right beside Applebee’s.
Pat invited us to try it, as well, so last April 30 (the day after our Applebee’s treat), my kids and I went there once again to fill our still full tummies with breakfast-for-lunch food.
I remember a scene from the movie The Vow, where Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams went on a date at their favorite cafe and Channing asks Rachel if she’s ready for dessert. Rachel says they just had waffles and Channing says, “Oh, that was dinner.” 😛 It was almost lunch time when we arrived at IHOP but of course, we had to have pancakes and waffles, too! And yes… for lunch! 🙂
A lot of Filipinos may not enjoy a meal like that because it’s not rice and a viand, but for me and my kids… we didn’t mind coz we can eat bread the whole day and we couldn’t care less, as long as the bread is soft… and pleasant to the taste.
So anyway, Pat joined us that day and since it was our first time, I told her to order their ‘specialties of the house’ for us. After a few minutes, their cordial servers brought these goodies out…
Appetizer Sampler (425PHP) Monster Mozza Sticks, Onion Rings & Crispy Chicken Strips served with honey mustard & marinara sauces.
My two older kids raided the onion rings and they said it’s delish but like I said before, I’m not a fan of onions, so even if they looked really good–almost like a small donut–they still didn’t catch my attention; however, the Monster Mozza Sticks!!! HHHMMM… I could have 10 or more pieces of those and I’d still be asking for more… and my kids share the same sentiments! Those sticks are gooey, tasty, and just right to the bite. We love them!
Strawberry Banana Pancakes (195PHP) Two buttermilk pancakes filled with banana slices topped with glazed strawberries and more bananas.
I honestly like pancakes, I can have them for lunch and/or dinner! They have to be soft, yummy, and chewy, though, otherwise, I won’t bother. Since I’m a sucker for anything strawberry and also fond of bananas, these hotcakes kinda made my day. 🙂 They’re just how I want my slapjacks to be!
Chicken and Waffles (345PHP) Four all-white-meat crispy chicken strips with a Belgian waffle, served with honey mustard dipping sauce.
If you’re looking for chicken and dessert in one, then this set would be one of the great choices at IHOP. Actually, they have lots of delectable sets and they will surely put a smile on your face. 🙂 They have the Chicken Florentine Crepes, Split Decision Breakfast, Simple & Fit Spinach Mushroom & Tomato Omelette, and many more that we will definitely order when we go back there. I’m sure they taste just as awesome as the others.
Breakfast Sampler (395PHP) Two eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 pork sausage links, 2 pieces of ham, hash browns, & 2 buttermilk pancakes.
According to Pat, you haven’t really tried IHOP if you haven’t tried this combo. It’s got stuff that will give you a happy day ahead. Those sausage links are yum and they cooked the eggs exactly how I want them. So… pancakes, sausage links, bacon, eggs… who wouldn’t be excited to eat! 🙂
For a limited time offer, they have 3 dishes that they call ‘Comfort Food’ and one of those are these IHOP Tacos (125PHP – single / 195PHP – double), which are available in soft or hard taco shells. A personal favorite of yours truly, I always order these whenever they are part of the menu (of wherever we are eating, that is) and I am glad that Pat ordered them for us.
Like I mentioned earlier, I loooove anything good that has strawberry and it was just right, I think, that I ordered their Strawberry Milk Shake (150PHP). 🙂 Rikki ordered that, too, and Ice sampled their Vanilla Milk Shake (150PHP). Nikki tried their Splashberry (175PHP), which is a blend of glazed strawberries, lemon-lime soda, & premium orange juice. This drink is very refreshing and invigorating and simply perfect for this very-hot-mostly-humid weather we are experiencing right now.
What’s nice about this is that you can have the Splashberry as much as you like because it is part of their Refillable Beverages list. In that list, they also have Never Empty Coffee Pot (regular or decaf), Iced Coffee (original or mocha), Hot Tea, Iced Tea, and Soft Drinks (Pepsi products). They have single-serve beverages, too.
The two other dishes in their Comfort Food list are the Spaghetti Bolognese (195PHP) and Southern Fried Chicken (195PHP – 1 pc. / 295PHP – 2 pcs.). I believe most Pinoys will love their spaghetti because it has that sweet Filipino-style taste but it’s not like the usual sweet-style that other brands have. I am sooo fond of pasta, so this was a great fit for me. 🙂
Their Southern Fried Chicken is a must-try, I would say. It is served with gravy but believe me, you don’t need gravy to enjoy this very common food. I don’t know what they put in their marinade but these chicken pieces are very flavorful and tender. In short, they are not like your regular fried chicken. 😛
I love the homey, very relaxed ambience of IHOP… it’s like you’d want to stay there the whole day and indulge in their strawberry milkshake while you read a book, do some work on your laptop, or just chat with your best buddy. According to Pat, that is really how they want their customers to feel… as if they are at home having breakfast or merienda.
With a quiet (mellow-not-annoying-loud-music is what I mean) background, I think this spot would be great for team meetings or sales presentations with a couple of clients.
Pat and I (and my kids, of course) talked about a lot of things and I totally forgot to take pix of us… boo! My son reminded me about it when we were already about to leave. So, I told him and Rikki to smile for the camera, even though I was actually taking a shot of the first floor dining area. 😛
And well, we took one more shot inside our Grab-car… all happy, smiling, and once again boondat. 🙂
Thanks again to Pat for inviting us this second time and the wonderful servers for a great service. 🙂
